The Barney Point Coal Terminal Wharf Remediation project includes the following works:
- Demolition of concrete slabs and supporting beams using ultra-high pressure water blasting (20,000 psi) and an 160 tonne crane to rmeove the decks and beams. As this demolition was undertaken over water, special consideration was given to approrate demolition methods and environmental controls.
- Installation of new pre-stressed concrete beams on high strength bearing pads.This involvd the installtion of formwork, cathodic protection titaniun strips and annode ribbons. Majority of these works are to be carried out while the wharf remains operational.
