The project at Wiggins Island Coal Export Terminal, involved construction of Roads, in four separate locations within the coal terminal. (Central Bund, Western Bund, Southern Reclaim Tunnel Access Roads & Northern Tunnel Access Roads). The main works consisted of Excavation of approx. 2.5km of road, at 3.5m width, to design level, and then placement of various layers and designs of Unbound Pavement Materials, and then Spray Sealed. The Central Bund, measured approx. 14m wide, whilst the Western Bund measured 9m wide.
The works contained an upgrade to the existing Dozer Crossing (across the Gantry Rail Beam) including an upgrade to widen the crossing, extend out into the new roadway, and apply a PaverRoc wearing surface, to enable access to four D11 Dozers to cross the rail beam with ease.
