Scope of Work

QMC Group completed the construction of a new 600m long bidirectional cycleway linking Danks Street Plaza to Lachlan Street via Crystal Street, Potter Street & Gadigal Avenue, Waterloo. This necessitated working amongst public transport, retail and hospitality trade deliveries, with constant vehicular and pedestrian traffic. To ensure minimal impact to local businesses, the community (visitors and residents) and commuters, works were completed in multiple return stages at both day and night times.

Works included demolition and excavation of existing pavements in heavily congested service areas, construction of new stormwater pits & pipes, installation of new light poles including infrastructure upgrades, realignment of existing roadways including the construction of median separator kerbs as well as new kerbing of varying profiles.

QMC also constructed a commercial driveway to the Potter Street carpark and 3 pedestrian crossings on Potter Street, Crystal Street & Danks Street, finishing the scope with landscaping works including construction of new tree pits and garden beds and approximately 90m2 of new concrete pavements, 700m2 of brick and concrete unit paving and 900m2 of asphalt.

The new bike links are located on well-used bike routes, supporting new and existing riders by creating more options for people to travel safely while maintaining physical distance during Covid-19 pandemic.
