QMC launches Women In Civil with the aim to see more women on site on our projects

Five years ago today, QMC’s Chief Executive Officer, Steven Commisso, launched our FOCUS initiative which is our reminder to go above and beyond to achieve excellence in all that we do. Today marks another significant milestone for QMC with the introduction of QMC Women in Civil (QWIC).

To welcome in the new financial year, QMC hosted its inaugural QWIC committee meeting. QWIC hope to create interest and opportunity for women to pursue careers in civil construction and inspire future generations. Our aim is to see more women on site on our projects.

QMC attended Civil Contractors Federations NSW’s event where NSW Governments State Treasurer, Mr Matt Kean spoke about increasing funding strategies to encourage opportunities for women’s training and participation in civil construction with a goal of “15% women in trade and non-traditional construction roles by 2030 in hope to reach a more gender balanced industry.”

The establishment of QWIC aligns with the QMC commitment and co-signing with the CCF NSW’s pledge in October last year and joining them as a ‘Employer Champion of Women in Civil’.
