Scope of Work

The historic cast iron Sean Heuston Bridge was constructed in 1827 to allow horsecarriages to pass over the River Liffey in Dublin. In 2003, the bridge was set to be included in the Luas (light rail network) and required strengthening to support the heavy traffic loads imposed by the rail network.

Falsework comprised of a steel portal frame structure was erected under the bridge prior to construction of structural steel reinforcement and addition light concrete topping. QMC Group undertook the task of placing the lightweight concrete topping and removing the false work. The Sean Heuston Bridge is now an integral part of the Dublin Light Rail System.
