Scope of Work

This project involved the construction of a new bio-retention area which was fed by harvesting then redirecting stormwater runoff from surrounding suburbs to Wetlands 4.

The works comprised the construction of a curved concrete retaining wall, a bio-retention basin, a new stormwater line and extensive hard and soft landscaping.

A new stormwater line was also installed adjacent to the intersection of Campbell Street and Barwon Park Road. At this location the line was approximately 4m deep. QMC bored the section of line under the roadway to minimise the risks associated with opening such a deep excavation adjacent to a busy road.

Upon completion the algae growth has been stopped, the vegetation is thriving and birdlife is returning. Wetlands 4 are now rejuvenated and a vibrant focal point of Sydney Park.
